Turkey in the Straw
So....I can't figure out how to upload the version of "Turkey in the Straw" that we are learning :(
BUT....here are a couple links to some other versions of the song, so students can familiarize themselves with the general idea of how it goes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1oRhX-_W7Q (great to listen to in order to get the jist of the song, but it is in the wrong key, so don't try to copy the fingers or anything!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eny4qlQzlwA (a complicated banjo version, but the main melody is still there, and the song sure is catchy!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2Ntl1uIHVc (another more complicated version, this time played by a band)
The version we are learning comes from the "Fiddleworks 1" book by Zav RT (who taught at the Edmonton Suzuki Institute in 2010 I believe...)

Neat picture!
An incredible light painting by Albanian-American photographer Gjon Mili | For this series, captured in 1952 for LIFE magazine, Mili attached a light to Jascha Heifetz’s bow and had him play in a darkened room – allowing the camera to caprture the bow’s movements | The resulting effect – music literally pouring from the virtuoso's body

Congratulations to everyone who attended Lottery Day yesterday (and what a great turnout!). Everyone played so wonderfully, and I just loved getting to hear all of your performances!! I can tell you all prepared well and practiced hard! Super work!
